I don’t remember the exact details of how Taisha and I first became acquainted via the world wide web, but right away I knew she was a kind and genuine spirit. I was able to confide in her and ask for prayer, and she shared a dream she had with me to step out on faith and start her own business.
Well that dream has come to fruition and I’m ecstatic to share her amazing work with you all!!! Her Etsy shop, Inspired Peaces, is my next Small Shop Spotlight!
1. Tell me a little bit about yourself (family, interests, hobbies, etc).
I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. I still live in New York but I am a country girl at heart. Something about rolling hills and farmhouses makes me happy.
I am a wife and mom to an almost 2 year old amazing little girl. I work full-time outside the home at a 9-5 job, but I am a maker.

I love working with my hands and learning how things are made. If I can figure out how it works, I’d rather make it myself. It’s a true passion. I have taken silversmithing classes to learn how to create jewelry. I’ve gone to pastry school and have sold custom cakes. And while on maternity leave, I learned about calligraphy and handlettering. I love words and so this was something I knew I wanted to become good at. I’d love to one day teach these things I’ve learned to young kids or single moms to spark their own creativity. I’m a firm believer that a skill learned is something no one can take away, and it may just open a few doors of opportunity.
2. When did you open your shop and why?
I opened my shop in July 2016. I opened it for a few reasons. I tell my mom that I get my creativity from her side of the family and my entrepreneurial spirit from my dad’s. To own something that is yours, that you pour your heart and time into. It’s something I’ve always wanted.
I also have this BIG, scary (good scary) dream that I know only God can pull off for me. I want my shop to honor Him, to encourage others, to get people a bit closer to Him. And I want my shop to provide for my family in a meaningful way all the while allowing me to do what I love….creating. BIG. Scary.
3. What or who inspires you?
My inspiration comes from God’s Word mostly. I usually print verses that have helped me in some way in the hopes it will help someone else in whatever season of life they find themselves in. I’m also inspired by my love of the outdoors and the whole…’go out and live’ mentality. There is life, people, and adventure out there. The world God created is beautiful and deserves to be explored. So some of my pieces were made to inspire us to do just that.
4. What’s the best part about being a small shop owner?
The best part is creating. It forces me to carve out time in my super busy schedule to create and dream. It gives my creativity a platform. That someone would spend their hard earned money on something I make is amazing to me.
5. Do you have a favorite item? If so, what makes it so special?
I think anything I make that has God’s word on it is my favorite. It’s really what I hope my shop reflects the most. But if I had to choose one, it would be my ‘Guard your heart’ mug.

It’s special to me because I am human. I sometimes allow negative thoughts, fear, and anxiety to creep into different areas of my life. I don’t think I am the only one. This verse reminds me to protect my mind at all times. To stand guard over my thoughts and emotions and not get lazy at the gate.
Wow. What a heart Taisha has. Can I get an Amen?!!
Seriously, this talented woman is truly gifted and I can’t wait to see how the Lord continues to use her in this way! My eyes filled with happy tears when I saw the wooden sign she created for my family, and I’m beyond excited about my new mugs!
I encourage you to show this gem some love by staying in touch with her on Instagram and Facebook. Her shop would also be a great place for Christmas shopping, and you can use code MINISTERMOM15 to save 15% through November 30th! Just click here!
