What Motherhood Means To…Maeve

I can still picture my 6-year-old self playing with my American Girl Dolls, dreaming of the day I would have a little girl of my own. I always dreamt of the fun things we would do like paint our nails and play dress up. Then we would go downstairs and bake some cookies. We would be best friends…

Okay, back to reality.

Hi all, my name is Maeve and I am the blogger behind Everyday Maeve. My husband and I have been married for almost two years now and we have a sassy little daughter who is 15 months. She was an unplanned surprise but definitely the best surprise.

When I was pregnant we were convinced it was a boy and of course my husband was beyond excited! Don’t get me wrong, I was excited too but deep down I always wanted a little girl. So when the nurse said she didn’t see a little “you know what” I was thrilled!

I would love to say being a girl mom has been nothing but cute bows and fun times, but having a girl is not exactly what I had imagined. We do paint our nails, but most of the bottle ends up on the floor. And playing dress up usually ends with her mad, running around naked.

Let’s just say my daughter is a sassy little spitfire. She has a mind of her own and certainly lets you know what she wants, and when she wants it. I feel bad for my husband because between my mom mood swings and my daughter, he is in for it! Luckily, the hubby has somewhat of an escape from us ladies while he is at work.

And while daddy is away mama and baby play…well sort of. It has always been a dream of mine to be a stay at home mom and thankfully, God had provided for us so I can do just that.

Being a SAHM is not for the weak! The days are long, the coffee isn’t strong enough, the laundry never ends and the toddler tantrums are patience testers. My little one keeps me busy and constantly keeps me on my toes.

Naptime is my sanity and my “me” time! On a good day, I get a two-hour nap out of her. That gives me just enough time to write a blog post or clean some of the house.

Being a stay at home mom takes a lot more then I had ever envisioned but I wouldn’t change it for the world. Being a mom is the greatest blessing and the fact that I am able to spend all day with my little one and be present for all of her milestones is amazing!

I love being a mom and am hoping that the Lord will continue to provide for my family so that I can be a SAHM. As far as having more children, I know that when the time is right we will have more. But for now I am enjoying being a mommy of one, to my crazy little princess!
